Accident & Serious Illness (ASI) is a new generation of AD&D that can help your employees prepare for the future with secure financial protection against specified accidents of serious illnesses. This plan provides coverage for accidents which occur anywhere at any time, on or off the job. You will be covered whether you are at home or travelling, including air travel as a passenger (but not as a pilot or crew member) in any certified aircraft flown by a duly licensed pilot.

The benefit has 3 components of coverage:

Accidental Death and Dismemberment:  The policy provides benefits for injury resulting in loss, or permanent and total loss of use, which occurs within one year after the date of the accident.

Critical Disease Benefit:  Plan members under age 65 who are totally disabled from a covered critical disease may be eligible to receive a benefit payout tax free. Covered conditions include Polio, Parkinson’s, MS, ALS, Alzheimer’s, Huntington’s Chorea, Type 1 Diabetes, Peripheral Vascular Disease, Necrotizing Fasciitis.

Serious Illness Benefit:  Plan members under age 65 may be eligible to receive a tax-free lump sum benefit if they suffer a covered serious illness. Covered serious illness includes Cancer, Heart Attack, Stroke and Kidney Failure.
